The NBC TV network has a show called Heroes.
They have inserted a character, named the Haitian, who has the power to erase memory.
I wonder how Irish Americans would react had Cheers inserted a character at the pub, who never left the bar, called the Irishman.
Please send NBC an email asking them to remove the character from the show or give him a different name. It is offensive and perpetuates the stereotype that Haitians have cornered the market on the supernatural.
It is also offensive to simplify Vodou and reduce to a few "stunts".
Any culture is too rich to be reduced to an individual.
You do not have to be Haitian to do so. It may be your culture under attack next.
