Richard Cavé is also the cousin of the talented Alan Cavé, Lead Singer of the group ZIN.

At the age of 3, Richard Cavé was already singing with his father .

His father and his cousin Syto Cavé bought him his first keyboard when he was only 9 years old.

Richard had to take some piano lessons to improve his skills.

He spent two years in the "Soeurs Nicholas" music school learning to read and write music.

When he was 13, Richard teamed up with some friends to create the first K-Dans that nobody had heard before.

Richard's father felt that the music was affecting his studies so he stopped paying for his piano lessons and took his keyboard away.

"I'm happy that he did that," says Richard.

The act did not stop Richard from doing what he likes the most though at the age of 15, Richard was working with Papash on their second album.

One year after that, Richard helped his cousin Alan Cavé produce the song "Cheri Mennem Ale".

Wanting to learn a different style, Richard started producing for King Posse.

He did the popular Carnivals "Retounen", "Saw We" and produced one of his favourite tracks "Diana".

Richard started working with K-Dans on their second album and produced another popular track, "Valerie".

"It's funny, my father loved the songs, but didn't know that I was the one producing them" says Richard.

Six months later Richard went to New York to continue his studies.

Richard soon became one of the three legs of the CARIMI project. a band consisting of 5 members:

CArlo Vieux Keys/Background Vocalist

RIchard Cave Keys/Background Vocalist

MIckael Guirand Lead Singer

Noldy Cadet Bass/Background Vocalist

Steve Desrosiers Guitar

CARIMI released their first album "Bang Bang" in July of 2001.

It took the world by surprise with new sounds, new styles, new vibes, still managing to keep it Compas.

Their first live performance was at SOB's in New York on November 9th, 2001.

Ever since, they successfully defied the Kompa world, touring in Haiti, New York, Miami, Boston and Summer 2002 Martinique, Guadeloupe, French Guyana, France, each time bringing a smile to many spectators, doing what no other band has done in less then 6 months of existence.
