Dear Woodring,
My husband Alix BALIN -Haitian Freedom fighter attorney and former high ranking civil servant who worked and fought on four continents.
Deceased on May 27, 2010 in Martinique, my country where he was attempting to get treatment against prostate cancer.
My son Shaka and I escorted his body to Paris on June 3, 2010.
Alix BALIN was born in 1935 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
He left Haiti in 1961 to go to Cuba, China, France, Algeria, DR Congo, Nigeria, Senegal, etc.
Alix BALIN came back to Haiti in 1987 after twenty-six years of exile; he never gave up his Haitian nationality.
Alix BALIN was the founder of the Alliance Pan-Africaine on May 13, 1985 in Paris, France.
Because he struggled against corruption and dictatorship during his lifetime, Alix and his family experienced hard times.
Alix BALIN left no material property at his death whatsoever; however, he wrote several books that we hope to publish again.
Alix and I met in 1985 in Paris, France, We married in 1991 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
I am the chairperson of the Alliance Pan-Africaine, a non profit organization.
