Edy Brisseaux started very young in music. At nine, he learned to play the guitar from his father who was an amateur musician. In high school, he began with the trumpet, and also studied with Michel Desgrottes. At 17, he began to play with top Haitian bands such as: Freres Dejean, Dixie Band, Zekle, Caribbean Sextet, Skah Shah etc. In 1987, wanting to bring a new sound to the music of his homeland, Haiti, he formed his band, Bazilik.

In 1992, Bazilik released its first album. Some experts in the Industry considered this piece of work to be one of the most advanced projects that the Haitian music has known; thus, classified Edy as a true avant gardist.

In 1997, he invented a new style of music, Rabop. The latter consists of elements of Bebop, a style of Jazz originated in 1950's with the great Charlie Parker and Rara ( music of the three-day rural easter/voodoo pocession/heavily percussive haitian trance Spirit possession religious music). Besides this album in which he introduced the concept of Rabop, he released subsequently four other ones and extended the concept to Konpabop. Besides Bazilik, Edy is involved in other activities such as producing and recording other artists.
