Gerard LaTortue was born in Gonaives, Haiti, on June 19, 1934. He is the current Prime Minister of Haiti.

In 1960, Gerard LaTortue studied at the Institute of Political Sciences and the Institute of Economic and Social Development in Paris.

Mr LaTortue Worked as a lawyer and law school professor. In 1961, Gerard Latortue co-founded an institute for business and economic study in Port-au-Prince, saying there was nowhere for Haitians to study economics in their own country.

Gerard Latortue worked as an economics teacher in Puerto Rico.

Gerard Latortue also became chief negotiator for the United Nations Organization for Industrial Development.

Gerard Latortue was the foreign minister of Haiti under the government of Leslie Manigat.

Gerard Latortue, while living in South Florida, was the host of 2 television programs in the Haitian Television Network of America (HTN), "Revue de la semaine" and "L'inviter".
