Carlo Vieux - Carimi Keyboard Player

Carlo Vieux - Former K-Dans Member

Carlo Vieux is the "CA" in "CARIMI", a Haitian Compas/New Generation Band.

Carlo plays the Keybord.

Carlo is a former keyboard player of K-Dans.  He made his music debut with a group called Tic-Tac at the age of 13.

His mother realizing that he was talented, hired a piano teacher to teach him the basics.

For more than two years he played classical music but soon discovered his passion, "Compas".

After doing a single with Alex Thebaud entitled "LANMOU MALERE", Carlo wanted to take his band, Tic-Tac, to another level.

Only 14 years old at the time, however, he soon realized that he would have to wait a little bit longer in order to succeed so he continued to practice and learn.

Finally, after years of watching musicians like Fabrice Rouzier, one of his idols, Carlo was ready.

At the age of 16 he had his first opportunity to play in a real live band..."K-DANS." For more than four years he played with the group.

"It was the most memorable time of my life," says Carlo.

After graduating from high school, he felt it was time to continue his studies and left Haiti to go on to Rutgers university in New Jersey.

There he earned a Bachelor degree in Economics and Political Science.

Carlo has accompanied Jean Michel Rotin during his tour in the states.

He also participated on the realization of the Zin Album "All I want" along with the other members of CARIMI.

Carlo is one of the three legs of the CARIMI project. a band consisting of 5 members:

CArlo Vieux Keys/Background Vocalist
RIchard Cave Keys/Background Vocalist
MIckael Guirand Lead Singer
Noldy Cadet Bass/Background Vocalist
Steve Desrosiers Guitar
CARIMI released their first album "Bang Bang" in July of 2001.

It took the world by surprise with new sounds, new styles, new vibes, still managing to keep it Compas.

Their first live performance was at SOB's in New York on November 9th, 2001.

Ever since, they successfully defied the Kompa world, touring in Haiti, New York, Miami, Boston and Summer 2002 Martinique, Guadeloupe, French Guyana, France, each time bringing a smile to many spectators, doing what no other band has done in less then 6 months of existence.
