Strings

Strings

Filed under:

Strings, formed in April 1996 by Jackie Ambroise, Philippe Augustin and Ralph Blanchard, is no exception to this legend.

Originally formed as a trio featuring a lead guitar, a rhythm guitar and a bass, the band is currently comprised of the three original members and a percussion section.

Arus Joseph plays congas and maracas, Serge Laguerre plays congas, djembe and bongos and Robenson Jean-Baptise is on drums.

Although the trio initially played Haitian folk music, the group has crossed boundaries into other musical realms including Flamenco, Afro-Haitian, Afro-Cuban and Salsa. In the style of the Haitian Troubadors, Strings evokes pure feeling.

Strings has performed at the Saint Lucia Jazz Festival, throughout the United State, and in many international locations, including Japan and Chile.
